Math We will continue to work with addition and subtraction problems and facts up to 5! We will learn new Math games such as Subtraction Top-It and Roll & Record with numeral dice! Some other skills we will work on include height, width, weight, and creating our own classroom maps.

Social Studies/Science – We have been learning about the characteristics of living vs. nonliving things. We have been studying plants and even planted our very own seeds! We have been recording our observations in a journal!

Reader’s & Writer’s Workshop – We are reading and acting like the characters in our books! It is so fun to buddy read and act out our books together with a partner. We have been “zooming in” to write small moment stories. We are working to add great detail, focus on one particular moment, and match our pictures to our sentences.

Phonics and Poetry - The children are having fun learning new poems and practicing old ones. This is a fun  way for the children to practice their fluency skills as well as build their confidence. :) All of the vowels have  now been introduced and the children are doing a fantastic job blending letter sounds together to create words. The children continue to use arm  and finger  tapping  strategies to help spell words.

Handwriting - We are busy practicing our handwriting strokes and learning the proper way to form upper and lowercase letters. Remember...top to bottom is the way we write!
